Rewilding Spain is organising this contest with the aim of disseminating the natural and cultural values of the Iberian Highlands landscape, thus encouraging nature lovers to visit and discover the unique beauty of the region during the cold season.
Nature photography lovers have a new reason to visit the Iberian Highlands over the coming months thanks to the launch of the first edition of the Nature Photography Contest ‘Winter in the Iberian Highlands’ by Rewilding Spain.
The aim of the competition is to disseminate the natural, scenic and cultural values of this landscape that are linked to winter time, a season of particular beauty, but largely unknown among the general public and nature lovers.
The Nature Photography Contest ‘Winter in the Iberian Highlands’ is open to professional and amateur photographers and will award prizes for the best images taken from 1 December 2024 until 15 March 2025, in any location of Señorío de Molina-Alto Tajo (Guadalajara province), Serranía de Cuenca (Cuenca province) and Montes Universales-Sierra de Albarracín (Teruel province) areas.
Pictures will be awarded in three categories: Fauna, Plants and Fungi, and Landscape. For each of these there will be a prize of €800 and two runners-up prizes of €100 each. There will also be two runners-up prizes of €500 for a young photographer (up to 25 years old) and another for a photographer currently living in the Iberian Highlands.
For this first edition of the competition, Rewilding Spain has partnered with Agrupación Fotográfica de Guadalajara (af/GU), Fotógrafos de Naturaleza Serranía Conquense (FONASECON), the Asociación Aragonesa de Fotógrafos de Naturaleza (ASAFONA), Photo Logistics and the photographer Uge Fuertes Sanz, author of the book ‘El Parque Natural del Alto Tajo en imágenes’.
