Emmanuel Rondeau’s documentary produced by Rewilding Europe, which portrays the power of rewildingto recover nature and revitalise landscapes, has become a great success. Since its premiere last July, it got over 40,000 views on Youtube and is generating great interest in every event where it’s being screened.
The film ‘Breathing new life into the Iberian Highlands’ has been directed by French filmmaker Emmanuel Rondeau (White Fox Pictures) and produced by Rewilding Europe – with financial support from Hogan Lovells – as part of a series on rewilding in different areas across Europe.
The documentary is a beautiful and intimate portrait that shows how nature restoration, wildlife reintroduction, entrepreneurship and partnerships can go hand in hand to help revitalise an entire landscape. It allows viewers to see the potential of rewilding to improve environment as well as people’s lives.
Starting out with the traslocation of 10 Przewalski’s horses from the Monts D’Azur Reserve in France to the public forest of Villanueva de Alcorón (Guadalajara), which took place in May 2023, the documentary portrays not only the work that Rewilding Spain is carrying out in the Iberian Highlands, but how this work is possible because it provides new perspectives and opportunities for the people who live in the territory.
In addition to Rewilding Europe’s Youtube channel, Rewilding Spain is screening the documentary at nature, educational and cultural events, with the aim of bringing the powerful message of rewilding to a wider and wider audience.
