Rewilding on the ground

Rewilding aims at the recovery of natural processes, so that the lost balance in ecosystems is restored. Furthermore, another essential mission is that the work carried out in favour of nature has a tangible positive impact on the socio-economic development of the landscape thanks to its natural assets. An excellent way to contribute to making our nature healthier is to learn about rewilding on the ground, with the support of local businesses and professionals. In this way, you will also support the development of the local economy.

Visiting rewilding spots

If you plan to visit the Iberian Highlands, you will find plenty of interesting places and activities to carry out, as the landscape holds an exceptional natural and cultural heritage. In addition, if you are interested in wildlife watching, you can visit our natural grazing actions on the ground and see herds of Serrano and Pottoka horses, Przewalski’s horses and tauros, -a breed of cattle that gathers the characteristics and behaviour of the extinct aurochs- in their habitat.

These are the rewilding areas available for visits:

  • Dehesa de Solanillos (Mazarete, Guadalajara): Natural grazing with herds of Serrano horses and tauros.
  • Public forest in Villanueva de Alcorón (Guadalajara): Natural grazing with Przewalski’s horses.
  • Public forest in Frías de Albarracín and Calomarde (Teruel): Natural grazing with tauros and Pottoka horses.
