The 22 participants in the Volunteer Programme contributed to ecosystems restoration, deepened on the natural heritage of the landscape and became ambassadors of the Iberian Highlands. And more than 80 applications have been received to join the programme in 2025 season, to start next February.
The Rewilding Educa education programme combined field visits and in-class activities about the role of tauros and other large herbivores in ecosystem restoration. After a successful first edition in Alto Tajo and Sierra de Albarracín areas, a new programme will be implemented in 2025 and will also reach schools in the Serranía de Cuenca region.

Four cinereous vulture specimens (Aegypius monachus) have just been released in the Iberian Highlands, as part of the programme for the reintroduction of this endangered species.
Rewilding Spain has deployed a network of camera traps and transects in the Dehesa de Solanillos (Mazarete, Guadalajara) natural grazing area to analyse the status of this species, which is key prey for many Iberian carnivores and also a valuable ecosystem engineer.
Emmanuel Rondeau’s documentary produced by Rewilding Europe, which portrays the power of rewildingto recover nature and revitalise landscapes, has become a great success. Since its premiere last July, it got over 40,000 views on Youtube and is generating great interest in every event where it’s being screened.
Volunteering is a valuable way to join the rewilding movement and contribute in a practical and active way to nature recovery. In the Iberian Highlands, four young people coming from Spain, Belgium, Switzerland and Lithuania were the first to join Rewilding Spain’s newly launched Volunteer Programme this summer.
