For the third year running, the Iberian Highlands will showcase its status as a destination of exceptional value for nature tourism enthusiasts at Naturtajo fair, which will hold its next edition at the Dehesa de Corduente Visitor Centre, one of the most iconic areas of the Alto Tajo Natural Park. The fair features a programme comprising three blocks of talks focused on natural areas management with leading experts in the field (Saturday morning); sustainable nature tourism, with presentations on ornithology and local initiatives linked to the region’s resources (Saturday afternoon); and the links between communication and nature, with the participation of national influencers and communicators (Sunday morning).

In addition, a range of open activities aimed at children and families are planned, including guided walks, concerts, stargazing sessions, visits to rewilding sites and book presentations.

Naturtajo is organised by Rewilding Spain and the Molina de Aragón and Alto Tajo Ecotourism Association, Serranía de Cuenca and Sierras de Aragón (AECOMATS), and is supported by the Regional Government of Castile-La Mancha through the Regional Ministry of Sustainable Development and the Alto Tajo Natural Park, as well as in collaboration with the Guadalajara Provincial Council, Nuestros Espacios Protegidos and Europarc-Spain.

As well as offering a weekend of gatherings and activities centred on nature, Naturtajo also serves as a showcase highlighting the full potential of the Southern Iberian System’s natural environment to act as a driving force for regional development. This was one of the ideas highlighted during the fair’s official presentation, an event attended by the director of Naturtajo, Basilio Rodríguez; the president of AECOMATS, Gemma Roselló; and the Regional Government’s Environment Delegate, Rubén García, who noted that events such as this fair “is an apportunity for us to open a window of hope” to address challenges in the landscape such as depopulation.

In addition to the conferences and activities for the whole family, Naturtajo will also feature a large exhibition area, with around thirty associations and organisations related to ecotourism, crafts and gastronomy having already confirmed their participation.

Full details of the fair can be found on the official Naturtajo website.
