The third edition of Naturtajo, the Nature Observation Tourism Fair, concluded with strong participation across its programme of activities and extensive networking among businesses and professionals from the sector. Another step forward in establishing the Iberian Highlands as a leading destination for nature observation tourism.

The figures from Naturtajo 2026 speak for themselves. The interest generated in the media and across social networks in the weeks leading up to the event was confirmed during the weekend of 23–24 May at the Alto Tajo Natural Park Visitor Centre in Corduente, which hosted the fair.
Naturtajo delivered a programme of more than fifty activities, including talks, practical workshops, outdoor experiences, panel discussions, book presentations and activities specifically designed for children. The fair also featured an exhibition area with forty stands representing producers, businesses and organisations. Sixty per cent of exhibitors came from the Alto Tajo region, the Serranía de Cuenca and the Sierra de Albarracín, helping to strengthen connections between tourism professionals and opening up new opportunities for collaboration.
Outdoor activities were among the highlights of the event, attracting 500 registered participants from 15 different provinces. Birdwatching excursions, optical equipment demonstrations, visits to Pottoka horses, and workshops on nest box construction, nature illustration and essential oil production, among many other activities, all reached full capacity.
The conference and panel discussion programme also attracted large audiences to the Corduente Visitor Centre. Attendees had the opportunity to hear from and exchange ideas with speakers including Sergio Pérez (E-Bird Guadalajara), Mario de Wonder, Ossian de Leyva (Micorriza), Lola Silva (Cosmo Guada), Ernesto Montoya (Vieja Tierra), Enrique Murciano (GREFA), Sara Cabezas (SEO/BirdLife) and Fernando Rebollo (Living Steppes Project).
Naturtajo was organised by Rewilding Spain Foundation, the Ecotourism and Sustainable Tourism Association of the Molina de Aragón–Alto Tajo, Serranía de Cuenca and Sierra de Albarracín regions (AECOMATS), and the Regional Ministry for Sustainable Development of Castilla-La Mancha, together with Alto Tajo Natural Park. The event was also supported by EUROPARC Spain, Nuestros Espacios Protegidos and the Provincial Council of Guadalajara.
The fair has a clear objective: to showcase the natural heritage of the Iberian Highlands as a whole, and of Alto Tajo in particular, while promoting nature tourism as a driver of socio-economic development across the region.
The joint efforts of professionals, organisations and local institutions have made this latest edition possible, while the support shown by visitors will help ensure that Naturtajo continues to create visibility and new opportunities for nature observation tourism in the Iberian Highlands in the years ahead.
