NaturTajo festival to position the Alto Tajo region as a nature destination

June 5, 2023

This nature observation fair will take place in June, 9-11 at Corduente village.

The Nature Observation Tourism Fair Naturtajo 2023 will hold its first edition between 9 and 11 June 2023 in Corduente (Guadalajara province) with a double goal. Firstly, Naturtajo aims to contribute to highlighting the natural heritage of the Alto Tajo and to position it as an essential destination for lovers of sustainable nature tourism from all over Spain. In addition, the event also aims to become a platform to boost the economy of the territory based on nature activities, so that this also becomes an opportunity for entrepreneurship and employment.

Naturtajo 2023 is promoted by Castilla-La Mancha regional government in partnership with Rewilding Spain.

Participation of more than 50 organisations and experts

The fair will bring together a panel of more than 50 companies, associations, institutions and experts from all over the country linked to different areas of nature at the Dehesa de Corduente Visitors Centre in the Alto Tajo Natural Park (Guadalajara) , offering visitors a unique programme of activities and experiences.

This intense programme of talks and conferences, audiovisual screenings, outdoor activities and workshops will kickoff on Friday 9 at 11:00 a.m. with the conference “Conservation and tourism” by Joaquín Araújo,  an acknowledged and awarded author and nature advocate with the largest number of published works in Spain.

The regional Councillor for Sustainable Development, José Luis Escudero, stressed the importance of holding such an event: “Nature observation tourism is an opportunity for the enjoyment of protected natural areas in Europe as well. Our role as managers is to regulate the activity so that the observation of biodiversity generates economic activity in this landscape and contributes to its conservation”, he stressed.

Rewilding Spain’s team leader, Pablo Schapira, highlighted the role of Naturtajo as a collaborative initiative that shows “the capacity that we all have together to put nature in the spotlight, so that it becomes a driver for the socio-economic development of the landscape, based on a positive, respectful and optimistic vision”.
